Anderson is located in Madison County in the state of Indiana, USA. The county seat, Anderson was incorporated twice, once in 1838 and then in 1853. This region has a rich history, originally being inhabited by Delaware Indians. Anderson received its named after Chief William Anderson (Delaware Indian).
The economic growth of this region received a boost with the completion of the railroad through Anderson. The discovery of natural gas in the late nineteenth century further spurred growth and several industries were set up.
