Situated in Fulton County, the city of Alpharetta is located at the foothills of the southern Appalachians in north-central Georgia, USA. It covers an area of 55.4 sq km and has a population of around 60,000.
Originally established as a village by the name of New Prospect Camp Ground, it was a trading post where Indians and white settlers exchanged goods. The town was renamed as ‘Alpharetta’ (meaning ‘first town’) and was chartered on 11 December 1858.
The area enjoys a moderate climate and is protected from extreme temperatures and high humidity due to its elevation of over 1,000 feet. The average summer temperature is around 24°C while the average winter temperature is around 4°C.
Alpharetta is continuously experiencing growth and development while maintaining its rich heritage.
